Mission
Iwpr empowers local voices to drive change in countries in conflict, crisis and transition. Where hate speech and propaganda proliferate, and journalists and civic activists are under attack, iwpr promotes reliable information and public debate that makes a difference. By helping local voices to be heard, iwpr builds peace, improves governance and advances human rights. Iwpr maintains extensive local networks and expert program teams, making it uniquely positioned to mobilize the power of information to create more stable, just and inclusive societies.
Programs
3 programs
Lac: iwpr works with journalists and civil society organizations in the region, strengthening their abilities to conduct fact-based reporting, to provide objective, unbiased and accurate information about developments in the country and to work together to establish mutual support networks.
Asia: iwpr's programs are in asia and southeast asia, where we operate on programs that focus on opening up space for freedom of expression in repressive societies, strengthening independent media networks and promoting public debate about critical issues in the run up to local elections.
Europe: promote democratic growth, participatory governance, and cross-border cooperation by strengthening civil society and independent media.
