Raising standards of responsibility: iard works to set global standards that focus on three key areas - promoting informed adult choice and moderation, preventing underage drinking, and tackling harmful drinking. Iard global standards include commitments to integrate responsible drinking messages into labelling, advertising and digital channels; including age-restriction reminders on product labels, and on 0.0 versions of alcohol brands. They also include warnings against drinking during pregnancy and driving while intoxicated, along with energy and alcohol content information. We support strict enforcement of legal purchase age requirements for both in-person and online sales, and offer free-online resources that hospitality venues and retailers can use to empower their staff to sell, deliver, and serve alcohol responsibly. By adhering to these global standards, integrating them into contractual agreements and practices, and working with partners across the value chain, we are working to establish a positive movement for change.
Science and policy: iard monitored and reviewed international scientific research on the relationship between drinking and health and social outcomes, as well as research on effectiveness of alcohol policy to reduce alcohol-related harm, in order to update and maintain a comprehensive evidence base for the development of materials and tools.
Communications: the organization conducted outreach with stakeholders through multiple channels, including meetings, website resources, electronic publications, and social media. This work included it development for its website. The organization communicated its activities to the global and regional media.
