The guiding principle of the ipf is that we invest in trust, meaning that we value the community relationships an knowledge that our partners have established and trust their judgment in innovative approaches to addressing local needs for gender sensitive peacebuilding. In addition to funds, ican provides the ipf grantees with strategic advice and technical support, as well as peer learning from other wasl members. The programs and activities undertaken are fully owned and led by our partners.
The better peace initiative bpi ican has pioneered the development and dissemination of practical guidance and tools on how to enable gendered and inclusive mediation and peace processes. This is in response to the growing demands from the international policy community that is recognizing that traditional peace negotiations fail too often, while there is clear evidence that the inclusion of women peacebuilders and gendered approaches in peace processes increases the chance of the sustainability of the final agreements. In addition to developing the tools in multiple languages, icans bpi also provides tailored trainings, mentoring, and strategic advice to international policymakers and nationally rooted women peace coalitions engaged in current peace processes.
