Ukraine: amidst a wartime context, iri works to improve the responsiveness and accountability of ukraine's local government and political parties, and to promote civic engagement and the participation of groups such as internally displaced persons (idps) and veterans in the decision-making and recovery process. Iri works in communities throughout ukraine to improve interaction between local-level stakeholders, and to develop local governments and political parties' internal organizational capacities, external outreach, and responsiveness to citizens.

Iraq: against a flood of misinformation about iraq's electoral system and how ballots are cast and counted, iraqi citizens distrust many political institutions that have promised to deliver a better future. Through its programs, iri works with committed civic organizers and democracy-focused civil society organizations that seek to encourage voter turnout and educate voters about their rights, responsibilities, and the democratic framework under which they live.
