International Seakeepers Society Inc

In 2024 seakeepers completed a total of two hundred & sixty-one (261) activities through its discovery yachts program. This represented a 7% increase from prior year impact numbers. Activities were completed as follows: scientist-led expeditions: seakeepers completed 29 expeditions with 148 total days of field research in the united states, fiji, the adriatic sea, indonesia, new zealand, and the bahamas. Citizen science: seakeepers installed 63 data loggers through our collaboration with the seabed 2030 project for data collection of the ocean floor. 14 neuston nets covering various projects with educational partners were distributed to discovery yachts around the world. Educational outreach: seakeepers organized 87 activities, including 33 floating classrooms that allowed our staff to engage with 5,161 students, and 747 educators, and collaborated with a total of 66 schools. 29% of the engagement was from title i schools. Community engagement: seakeepers completed 68 public events, which included scientific seminars, educational events, shoreline and underwater cleanups, and yachting industry functions. A continued focus to engage the public at large through shoreline clean ups and attending different professional forums is an increasing focus. Expansion of programming included the establishment of a sub-chapter in bangladesh which is currently managed through seakeepers asia. Initial efforts are directed at tackling plastic pollution in the sundarbans through a joint program with wildteam. Recognizing bangladesh's vital rolein the global blue economy, the society will focus on the bay of bengal andthe sundarbans, designing programming that relies on community involvement. With a focus on children's education, the sub-chapter plans to eventually integrate environmental conservation into school curricula, therebyextending the impact of educational outreach and next generation learning.
