International Society For Neuroethology

The sum of $22,350 was used for research grants/awards for 23 recipients who are US citizens. This includes $5,000 for two Konishi Neuroethology Research Awards, $1000 for the Capranica Award, $7700 for Heiligenberg Student Travel Awards for travel to conferences pertinent to the theme of neuroethology including the Berlin congress, $3000 for three Presidential Symposium winners, $2400 for two Young Investigator awards, and three winners of Acoustical Society Fellowships (total fellowships, $2750).

Hosting online webinars on the theme of the future of neuroethology is a key component of our member engagement strategy. Organizers and presenters were volunteers (not reimbursed). One webinar was hosted 17 April 2024.

Planning and support for international congresses is a major activity of the International Society for Neuroethology. The International Congress for Neuroethology took place in Berlin, Germany, 28 July to 2 August 2024. The International Society provided $15,000 seed money the local organizing committee to cover up front organizational costs, and was reimbursed $17,764 from registration fees paid by attendees (revenue of $2764). As part of the Congress, an evening event was hosted for Presidential Symposium participants in Berlin at which the outgoing President of the Society was recognized. We are currently planning for the 2026 International Congress of Neuroethology in Vancouver, BC to be held at the University of British Columbia 26 to 31 July, 2026, and have provided seed money to the local organizing committee to reserve meeting rooms and accommodations ($30,000).
