Mission
The IUGS promotes the development of the geological sciences through the support of broad-based scientific studies and commissions, the results of which advance geological education, public awareness of geology, the responsible use of natural resources and preservation of the natural environment. It also sponsors scientific conferences on various aspects of the geosciences.
