Martinez Contra Costa County California: In 2024 IVO continued its High-Quality High-Volume Spay Neuter HQHVSN Training Clinic in Martinez California. IVO conducted the monthly clinic 11 of 12 months of the year. The program is made possible in collaboration with Contra Costa Humane Society CCHS and Contra Costa Animal Services CCAS. During the 11 clinics conducted a total of 63 veterinary student trainings occurred on best practices in operations of HQHVSN. CCHS helped identify at-risk animals from low income households in Contra Costa County and a total of 98 dogs and cats were altered vaccinated microchipped and treated with parasite preventative medications.

Kajiado County Southern Kenya: Between February and April in 2024 enumerators trained by Amboseli Trust for Elephants ATE surveyed a total of 2982 pastoralists in the seven group ranches adjacent to Amboseli National Park including Selengei Imbirikani Kimana Kuku Nasaru Olgulului and Rombo. IVO added One-Health-One-Welfare OHOW questions to the survey with the four primary objectives to: 1. Estimate the number of domestic animals owned at the household level and identify ownership trends between group ranches. 2. Identify common health symptoms and trends affecting domestic animals at the group ranch level and across the seven surveyed group ranches. 3. Identify common health symptoms and trends affecting people at the group ranch level and across the seven surveyed group ranches. 4. Understand pastoralist community members greatest animal health issues and concerns at the group ranch level and across the seven surveyed group ranches. Between October 11 to 24 2024 IVOs three-person team visited Kenya and conducted semi-structured community engagement events in four different communities coordinated by ATE Big Life and Lion Guardians. The community engagement objectives included: 1. Building trust and relationships with the communities 2. Sharing OHOW survey results 3. Requesting feedback directly from community members 4. Offering basic training in One Health and ways to improve health outcomes in domestic animals and people. Lastly a critical component of the pilot visit strategy included exploring opportunities for partnership and identifying opportunities for interventions in a future initiative.

Benguet Province Philippines: From December 4th to 14 IVO sent a small team of two US veterinarians and one farrier to work alongside three Filipino veterinarians and two support persons and conduct the second phase of an equine health and welfare program to increase local veterinary capacity and improve welfare standard of horses associated with Baguios tourism industry. Our collaborative international team worked closely with the Benguet State University College of Veterinary Medicine and the City of Baguios Veterinary Office. IVO conducted a one-day classroom seminar on topics relevant to working horse health and welfare then a field practicum for the same students the following day. Then for three days students gained hands-on experience providing direct care such as vaccines hoof care and dental care to 250 horses. A total of 17 students received training during the program.

Annapurna Conservation Area Nepal: In collaboration with three other NGOs Snow Leopard Conservancy Animal Nepal and Mountain Spirit IVO completed a program report that included recommendations on opportunities for intervention that was shared with local stakeholders for feedback to finalize the second phase of its initiative in Nepal. The initiative also included offering support for a Tribhuvan University veterinary students research study titled "Knowledge attitude and practices relating to zoonotic diseases among livestock farmers of the central and regional headquarters of Annapurna Conservation Area Project Nepal" which was completed by July. Much of 2024 was used for planning for the third phase of the program which will include increased and sustainable care for domesticated dogs in the Manang District to reduce transmission of diseases like rabies to people and distemper which can be deadly to snow leopards.
