Iowa Academy Of Science

Ists-iowa science teaching section: the iowa science teaching section (ists) advocates for excellence in science education by promoting professionalism and expanding learning opportunities for teachers. Ists holds the ists fall conference annually offering professional development and networking opportunities for 100 to 125 iowa science teachers. Ists encourages collaboration among teachers and publishes the ists newsletter and the ists journal. Ists is the equivalent of a state science teacher organization and benefits from being part of iowa's general science academy.

Ijas-iowa junior academy of science: the iowa junior academy of science promotes the study of and participation in science by elementary and secondary students and teachers. The junior academy provides mentoring opportunities for students doing science research, encourages student research, oral and written communication skills, and provides science, technology, engineering, and mathematics experiences for students. It also assists teachers who supervise student research projects. Members of the academy volunteer to evaluate student projects and presentations. It awards excellence in student achievement. The ias visiting scientist is available for member schools.
