Vitalize kitsap's community engagement program promotes inclusion and visibility for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (i/dd) through meaningful participation in public life. Members engage in volunteer service, collaborative arts, presentations, and recreational outings which foster connection with the broader community. These experiences help reduce stigma and create more inclusive spaces by increasing public awareness and acceptance of i/dd. Each activity is tailored to participants' interests and support needs, with staff providing individualized assistance to ensure accessibility, safety, and success. The program helps members develop confidence, advocacy skills, and a sense of belonging. It also strengthens community ties by encouraging partnerships with local nonprofits, businesses, and cultural organizations that value diversity and inclusion.
