Mission

To conserve, restore, and promote the sustainable use and enjoyment of our natural resources, including soil, air, woods, waters, and wildlife. Through the efforts of the League, conservation becomes part of everyday life, everyone enjoys sustainable outdoor recreation and healthy lands and waters support thriving fish and wildlife populations.

Programs

Green Summer: Green Camp - Middle School is a hands-on conservation-focused day camp program designed to supplement elementary/middle schools existing summer programs. Green Campers explore topics in water science, Leave No Trace conservation ethics, and carry out conservation service projects. Green Camp - Leadership Training is a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare high school students to become environmental stewards & leaders. The trainings build leadership & project management skills by enabling students to plan and carry out conservation projects related to their interests and expertise. Americorps Climate Resilience Fellows staffed the Green Summer programs including Green Camp, the Environmental Leadership Training, and the County Fair project. Fellows also took charge of their own summer long conservation project in partnership with the Green Crew members.

Kouba Gallery: The Kouba Gallery seeks to explore the Human Relationship with Nature through Art. Founded by volunteers of the Minnesota Valley Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, celebrates art inspired by nature and conservation. More than just an exhibition space, it's a gathering place that sparks wonder and fresh perspectives. Since January 2022, we've hosted monthly curated shows featuring painters, photographers, sculptors, and more. Our monthly open houses have become vibrant community events with live music, performances, and creative connections. The Kouba Gallery seeks to explore the Human Relationship with Nature through Art.
