Preserve and promote historic Hurst Limestone Kilns near Maquoketa where public can view the only remaining group of Kilns in the country. Self guided tour facility with education placards detailing the once booming enterprise of a century ago. JCHS also supports other historical preservation efforts in surrounding communities such as Bellevue, Andrew, Canton that highlight or preserve important structures or programs for those specific areas.

Each Tuesday at noon JCHS hosts a Brown Bag Lunch event with a presentation on some historic event, artifact, person etc usually attended by 35-40 peoplel
