Jackson Resource Center

The Yellow House, established in 2022 as a Maternity Group Home, provides temporary housing and support services to expectant and parenting youth ages 16 to 22 who are experiencing homelessness in the Jackson, Mississippi area. The program utilizes a Holistic Trauma-Informed Care approach to help young mothers build the skills and confidence needed to make lasting positive changes in their lives. In 2024, The Yellow House continued to provide safe housing along with basic necessities such as food, clothing, and transportation support. Residents participated in life-skills training, financial literacy workshops, counseling, and parenting classes designed to promote stability and self-sufficiency. The program also connected participants to higher education and job-training opportunities to support long-term independence. During 2024, JRC strengthened its collaborative service model by bringing other nonprofit and community organizations onsite to offer counseling, educational resources, and wraparound support. This comprehensive approach provides the foundational building blocks for each young mother's development, learning, and overall well-being throughout her lifetime.
