James Island Outreach

Financial assistance and referrals are provided to help neighbors experiencing financial hardship, housing insecurity and other economic challenges. Emergency assistance with utility and rent bills totaling $36,893 was provided to 199 households. Through partnership with the Trident United Way AmeriCorps Program, a family navigator provides 1:1 consultations to assist with public and private benefits applications, eligibility screening and snap and Medicare application assistance.

The Hart Critical Home Repairs Program helps clients with critical repairs such as leaking roofs, damaged floors, plumbing leaks and window replacements. Home repairs totaling $122,743 were accomplished in 2024 covering 23 separate projects.

Financial resources workshop. Launched in 2023, this program offers twice monthly workshops for clients and community members to learn about local resources available to help them increase income and decrease expenses. In 2024, 20 workshops were held with a total of 110 attendees.
