Methodist jennie edmundson hospital, home to the only accredited cancer program in western iowa, joins a list of prestigious hospitals across the country in being named an american college of surgeons (acs) surgical quality partner. This, after maintaining accreditation by the commission on cancer (coc) for more than three decades and the national accreditation program for breast centers (napbc) for more than a decade.all newly diagnosed cancer patients' cases are presented at a weekly cancer conference for in-depth review by surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, medical and radiation oncologists and other specialized care providers. Methodist jennie edmundson hospital uses the newest equipment and technology to help fight cancer.these physicians combine their expertise and the latest research to recommend a comprehensive, individualized plan of care for each patient. This collaborative approach, combined with staff expertise and advanced technology, offers cancer patients the best opportunity for successful outcomes in the battle against cancer. Working together with the patient as a member of the team, methodist jennie edmundson hospital uses this combined expertise to offer the best individual treatment plans, improve outcomes and provide comfort and hope.jennie edmundson has earned accreditation by the american cancer society commission on cancer accreditation - one of 11 hospitals in iowa. The hospital also maintained national accreditation program for breast centers accreditation for its breast care center one of eight in the state.

The surgical team at methodist jennie edmundson hospital is a highly trained group of physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who will work closely with patients and their families to plan their care and achieve the best outcomes.surgical specialties for children, adolescents and adults include the following: dental, general, gynecology, heart surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, pain management, pediatric surgery, plastic/reconstructive, peripheral vascular, respiratory/pulmonary, surgical oncology, thoracic, urogynecology and urology.

Other highlights:methodist jennie edmundson hospital was awarded a four-star overall hospital quality star rating from the centers for medicare & medicaid services (cms). A total of 890 hospitals earned four-star status.jennie edmundson successfully completed a project to improve/update the emergency department space in 2022. While mostly cosmetic, the enhancements resulted in a more efficient and much improved/safer space for staff and patients.work was completed on the renovation of the behavioral health unit at jennie edmundson. The addition of an outdoor space and improvements to patient rooms and common spaces was completed in 2023.the international board of lactation consultant examiners (iblce) and international lactation consultant association (ilca) recognized jennie edmundson hospital for excellence in lactation care. The ibclc care award recognizes facilities that hire international board certified lactation consultant (ibclc) staff and provide a lactation program for breastfeeding families. Jennie edmundson was the only hospital in iowa to receive the ibclc award this year after first being honored in 2020.jennie edmundson saw increased birth numbers following the opening of the fifth floor space devoted to women's health/births. Jennie edmundson finished 2024 with over 700 births.
