Mission
Jewish vocational services (jvs) is a workforce development organization that helps underserved individuals overcome barriers to employment and achieve their career goals. We work with people who encounter barriers related to ability, age, education level, immigrant status, job training, language skills, and other challenges. We provide career guidance, education, training, and the support they need to prepare for, find, and excel in a job.
Programs
3 programs
Job skills training: we work with employers and the state to identify in-demand jobs, create training programs to meet those needs, and recruit people with low-to-moderate incomes to enroll in the training programs. We offer training that can lead to industry-recognized certification for pharmacy technicians, home health aides, and apartment maintenance technicians.
Education and literacy: jvs offers three levels of english as a second language for immigrants who need to learn the language and adult basic education classes to prepare adults to take the ged exam to earn their high school equivalency diploma.
Refugee services: jvs helps refugees who are new to the country stabilize by assisting them with applications for benefits, referrals, and when needed, emergency assistance. Citizenship: jvs leads classes designed for legal permanent residents who are preparing for the us citizenship interview and exam. Career services: career specialists work one-on-one with individuals to develop individual employment plans and provide career guidance, resume assistance, job placement, and follow up and virtual programs about various aspects of the job search.
