JMPRO Community Media is a community-led media organization that strengthens education, health access, and civic participation in rural Western North Carolina.

Community Reporters Network The Community Reporters Network trains residents to serve as trusted messengers, equipping them with skills in media, health communication, and education outreach. Reporters connect rural households to essential services and reliable information. In partnership with a regional college, JMPRO launched a certification program, creating formal leadership pathways and recognition for residents of isolated rural areas. - 22 active Community Reporters trained - 120 multimedia resources produced - 5,600 residents engaged through hotlines and social media platforms - 2 colleges certification program launched

Rapid Response & Civic Engagement JMPRO created a Rapid Response Team during COVID-19 and expanded it after Hurrican Helene to deliver urgent education and health resources to rural communities. The team ensures the accuracy of information and connections to relief services. This rapid response structure is now an integral part of JMPROs long-term civic engagement, combining crisis communication with storytelling and fostering community resilience. - 540 households reached after Hurricane Helene - 18 Rapid Response actions with health and relief partners - 3 multilingual disaster-preparedness publications distributed
