Mission

Our mission is to promote restoration and stewardship of a healthy johnson creek watershed through sound science and community engagement.

Outreach and community stewardship -more than 1,600 volunteers showed up at 82 stewardship events to plant 4,853 trees, shrubs and plants, and remove 6.9 tons of garbage from johnson creek, and install 8 new rain gardens on newly-depaved landscapes. In addition, jcwcs americorp member worked with youth during 59 events inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards, scientists and advocates.

Expenses: $215K

Monitoring -jcwc participates in the interjurisdictional committee including the council and 10 agency partners whose efforts gather and monitor water quality, fish and wildlife data that tells everyone about the health of the johnson creek watershed. From this data, jcwc is better able to plan both restoration projects and community stewardship events, both of which have immeasurable benefits to the lands, waters, wildlife, and people who live, work and play in the watershed.
