JOY International is dedicated to the prevention of child trafficking and to the freedom, healing, and empowerment of trafficked children, teens, and young adults worldwide.

Programs

The Freedom Initiative: equips and supports front-line caregivers serving traficking survivors and vulnerable populations. Key 2024 activities: - Belize Mission Trip (May 2024): 11 volunteers partnered with four organizations (The Child Development Foundation, Yasha Home, A Better Belize, and Hope Haven), impacting over 200 individuals. Hosted camps for high-risk children, taught traficking prevention to immigrant and girls? programs, and provided discipleship classes for girls in a transitional foster care home. Organized a community soccer tournament for men to address trafficking demand reduction, covering topics like healthy masculinity, addiction avoidance, and spiritual growth. Conducted minor repairs and landscaping at aftercare and transition home facilities. - Belize Training and Retreat (December 2024): A retreat for 12 staff members working with survivors, offering training in trauma-informed care, secondary trauma prevention, and self-care strategies. The team also taught and served at three ministries for trafficking survivors, transition-age youth, and vocational training students, reaching an additional 100+ individuals. - Ongoing Online Peer Support: Facilitated regular online peer meetings for anti-trafficking leaders in Belize and Nepal, focusing on leadership, secondary trauma, staff wellness, and organizational resilience.

Uganda Girls Empowerment Program: In 2024, JOY International Uganda Girls Empowerment Program supported 36 vulnerable girls in Kasese District. Each girl received school tuition, supplies, uniforms, medical assistance if needed, and basic living essentials to ensure continuity in their education. Highlights included: - Graduations from secondary school and the transition of 10 girls into post-secondary education for 2025. - Strengthened collaboration with local justice advocates to work toward systemic change for girls' rights and anti-trafficking efforts in western Uganda.

Education on and Awareness Program: JOY International Education and Awareness Program is aimed at preventing human trafficking and sextortion through community education initiatives. It includes speaking engagements at schools, community groups, and churches. Program highlights: - Delivered school and community training sessions on sextortion prevention, online safety, human traficking awareness, and safe reporting methods. - Provided actionable digital safety tools for youth to help protect themselves against online exploitation
