Juneau Economic Development Council

Developing regional industries includes implementation of local and regional industry cluster based initiatives that enhance the competitiveness of and develop opportunities for growth within the following mature and emerging industry sectors: visitor products; ocean products; renewable energy; research & development; mining supply; maritime; and the arts. Each cluster has developed a set of initiatives which range from public policy development to entrepreneurial support to community events such as the juneau maritime festival and demonstration project such as installation of electric vehicle charging stations.

Talent (workforce development) is focused on k-12 education programming, primarily focused on extracurricular stem enrichment programming including the first robotics competition, summer science camp, afterschool stem hands-on workshops and activities, teacher professional development focused on engineering curriculum but also through facilitation of school based junior achievement programs

Other programs include support for small business and entrepreneurship and delivery of core economic development. In addition, the jedc, evaluated applicants and disbursed funds to qualified businesses for the state of alaska arpa funds.
