"engaging community to improve water quality in the lower duwamish waterway superfund site watershed (king county waterworks)" this project is intended to improve water quality by increasing the community's knowledge and undstanding of finding sources of pollution and reducing them from entering the lower duwamish waterway (ldw) superfund site (source control). It created culturally competent and linguistic materials for latinx, khemer and vietnamese residents through activities like: 1)teaching duwamish valley youth and adults about source control; 2)developing a watershed model to use as an educational tool; 3)transcreating an existing source control video for the khemer and vietnamese communities.
"south park wet weather community capacity building (seattle public utilities)" sewer backups have been occurring on certain properties in the south park neighborhood of seattle due to flooding events resulting from climate change, sea level rise and outdated sewage infrastructure. Just health action and two other non-profits engaged with affected community residents to 1)respond and prepare for yearly emergency flood events and 2) research and develop solutions to the recurring problem.
