Mission
We remove barriers to opportunities so immigrant and refugee communities can flourish without compromising values, heritage or ethnicity.
Programs
2 programs
Community engagement - kandelia's community engagement program is focused on bringing together a network of partners, supporters, and volunteers to help remove barriers to immigrant and refugee success. Community volunteers support students in our after-school classes, as well as in other areas of our work such as fundraising and in our food access program. Our community engagement program secures in-kind donations of school supplies, warm winter clothing, and gift cards to support student and family needs.
Family program - kandelia's family programs are focused on providing whole family support to help families through the challenges they face as newcomers. Our programs are culturally responsive and trauma-informed, and the exact classes we offer vary based on the needs of our families each year. Classes include english classes for different levels, computer classes, social classes, and self sufficiency classes. We provide weekly, culturally relevant groceries, pop-up shopping events for food and hygiene items, and after-school tutoring to afghan refugee students.
