Programs

Kennedy krieger's community services include a wide range of programs and services that are family focused and maximize the potential of each child within their home and community environments. (1) the maryland center for developmental disabilities (mcdd) links the community to vital services, research and information to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Its mission is to provide leadership that advances the inclusion of people with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities. Mcdd is proud to be a university center for excellence in developmental disabilities education, research, and service (ucedd) and a member of the association of university centers on disabilities (aucd). (2) core foundations provides person-centered services that foster personal growth, promote meaningful relationships, and empower people with disabilities to achieve independence at their home, workplace and community. We develop a customized program in partnership with each individual to support their independence. We support individuals with disabilities to obtain and maintain meaningful employment and community engagement for lifelong success. The person-centered approach requires an individualized plan, daily schedule, and goals for each individual. Core foundations is a licensed developmental disabilities administration (dda) adult service provider for the state of maryland and a community-based program. All services are provided within the individual's community setting. Core foundations staff will meet the individual at a pre-determined meeting location in the community. (3) kennedy krieger's therapeutic foster care (tfc) program, offers a continuum of services for children with special needs who require temporary or permanent out-of-home placement. Tfc offers domestic foster care and adoption services that are primarily funded through the maryland department of human resources (dhr). Therapeutic foster care serves more than 100 children each year.
