Kentucky Author Forum Inc

All staged events are recorded for national distribution via public television ("Great Conversations"), podcast ("Great Podversations"), plus posted online. National broadcasts and online access increase both the scope and inclusiveness of those served by Forums. Kentucky Educational Television produces "Great Conversations", making it available to PBS affiliates nationwide. Episodes were broadcast over 4,400 times, reaching 81% of the United States. Great Podversations are produced by Kentucky Author Forum and distributed by Louisville Public Media. Production began in 2020 so the Forum could continue fulfilling its mission during a time when theaters were closed due to COVID-19 precautions. These free podcasts are available globally on all major podcast apps. They were downloaded almost 13,000 times.

Kentucky Author Forum programming began in 1996 as part of a bicentennial effort of University of Louisville, which is the title sponsor. As schedules allow, authors and interviewers visit the campus. Historian, professor and journalist Jill Lepore was part of a seminar in which she discussed writing, research, her professional journey, and her long-term project called Amend- an NEH-funded data collection of attempts to amend the U.S. Constitution. During his on-campus visit, Pulitzer Prize-winner Richard Powers talked about his creative writing process, his books, and the environment. Both authors answered questions from those in attendance. The events were open to the entire campus community and attendees included faculty, staff and alumni. Discounted tickets for the staged events in the evenings are also available to the campus community. All authors and interviewers shared less formal conversations with community members, educators, and civic and business leaders at Forum dinners, following the staged events. Over 100 people associated with University of Louisville participated in the various activities.
