The second area in which we support our primary mission is our Venison Meat Stick Program, with an initial launch in 2022. Many school systems throughout our Commonwealth recognize that not all children are receiving the nutrition needed, and programs are in place to feed those students during the school week. To supplement this effort, other organizations have developed to provide students with backpacks or bags of food, at the end of each week, to assist children through the weekends. Providing protein over the weekend was a challenge, so KHFH was approached and asked if we could assist. In 2022, KHFH developed our Venison Meat Stick, a prepared package of venison comprised of two meat sticks per package. Much like the meat sticks you find in you area groceries or convenient stores, these meat sticks are ready-to-eat when you open the package. During our initial year of 2022 we distributed 45,000 packages to multiple school systems throughout our Commonwealth. For 2024 that number increased to 64,628 units - a 44% increase since its inception.
