Mission
The purpose of this organization is to preserve, develop and expand the Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden as an arboretum, botanical garden, museum, wildlife refuge, habitat and educational center for threatened, endangered and endemic species of flora and fauna, both resident and migratory, of the Florida Keys, Cuba, and the Caribbean Basin; and it shall serve as a center for the study of and research into such flora and fauna so as to encourage the conservation and promote the benefits of native plants and wildlife.

Education: The Society educates children about the threatened, endangered and endemic flora and fauna of the Florida Keys, Cuba, and the Caribbean Basin. This education includes the importance of conservation, natural sciences, and the benefits of native plants and wildlife.
Public Awareness: The Society educates the public about the threatened, endangered and endemic flora and fauna of the Florida Keys, Cuba, and the Caribbean Basin through trips to ecological destinations, a speaker series, garden tours, electronic tour guides, guide books, newsletters, and community family oriented environmental events.The Society had approximately 150 volunteers during the year who logged approximately 4,000 hours of work for the Society in many different capacities.
