Scholarships - The foundation awards scholarship funds to graduating seniors of the Anacortes School District who will pursue post high school academic and technical studies. Scholarships are also awarded to district graduates to continue post high school education and training. Scholarships are granted based on objective criteria such as academic excellence and financial need without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity or religious affiliation. This year 25 students received scholarships.
Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs - Our Foundation provides volunteer advisors to Kiwanis International affiliated service leadership club; Key Club for High school students, Builders Club at the middle school and KKids for grade schoolers. The foundation also gives financial support by paying operating expenses incurred by the clubs. The club activities provide community service opportunities to their members as well as the opportunity to develop leadership skills in a community service setting.
Youth Services - Resources and volunteer hours are given to a variety of groups delivering educational, recreational and cultural opportunities to youth. Examples of projects and groups supported are early learning programs, summer reading programs, outdoor education programs, Boys and Girls Club activities and Salvation Army summer camp programs. Two grants ranging from $2000.00 to $6000.00 were awarded.
