Mission
A widespread interest to create an organization adhering to a "no-kill" philosophy gave birth to the kohala animal relocation and education service ("kares") which serves the entire big island of hawaii. Kares rescues and relocates abused and abandoned domestic animals and provides housing through a foster network or a permanent caring home. Kares seeks to reduce over population through free and affordable spay/neuter clinics. Kares provides community education to promote responsible pet ownership and to prevent animal cruelty. Kares provides food and veterinary care support to families with pets who cannot afford food or veterinary care. This enables pets to remain with the family and not be abandoned.
