Programs
2 programs
Education programs: la plaza's tu futuro program encourages and supports latino youth to pursue a post secondary education through a series of workshops, presentations, individual consultations, college visits and community service projects. Students are provided with information about the college application process, financial aid and scholarships. This program served 275 students in 2024. In addition, la plaza offers two summer academic camps: summer discovery for elementary age students and the leadership institute for latino youth for high school students. Both programs are five weeks long and include reading, math, arts, physical education, leadership and technological development, field trips, community service activities and college and career exploration. These programs served 104 students in 2024.
Workforce development program: la plaza's latino opportunity center (loc) is to provide support and coaching to latino adults in central indiana to move from unemployment into promising and stable careers while building long-term financial stability. Loc staff provide program participants with individual coaching in the areas of employment, education, financial capabilities, and income support. The program works closely with employers, educational and financial institutions, healthcare providers, and other community-based organizations to provide all the necessary resources for participants to achieve financial stability and move into stable, middle income jobs. The program served 109 clients in 2024.
