Mission

Lpa works to eliminate barriers to mental health support in the immigrant community for those who face language, legal, economic and social challenges, while advocating for shifts in larger provider systems to become more responsive to the needs of the immigrant community.

Programs

3 programs

Partnership through justice at work (formerly friends of farmworkers): through this partnership, la puerta abierta works alongside justice at work to address the clinical and case management needs of community members and their families who have experienced labor trafficking or workplace sexual violence. Services include counseling, advocacy, and system navigation, all rooted in trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices. This collaboration ensures that survivors are supported not only legally, but also emotionally and relationally, as they rebuild their lives.

Expenses: $60K

Pro bono individual and family counseling support and professional development: la puerta abierta offers pro bono individual and family counseling as part of its commitment to increasing access to care for community members who might otherwise face barriers. These services also provide structured service-learning opportunities for interns and volunteers, strengthening the pipeline of future bilingual and bicultural clinicians. At the same time, lpa invests in its workforce through ongoing professional development and training, ensuring that counselors, social workers, and other clinicians are supported in delivering high-quality, culturally grounded care.
