Lake Fairlee Assn Inc

The LFA funds Diver Assisted Suction Harvesting (DASH) activities targeting areas of unmet need. Suction harvesting of milfoil enables specially trained divers to suction removed plants up to the water's surface. Education and outreach is critical so that lake front owners and lake users can support our mission of preserving, protecting and enhancing the distinctive ecology and natural resources of Lake Fairlee and its watershed. To that end, our Water Quality Action Committee participates in water quality monitoring including tributary water sampling as part of the LaRosa Partnership through VT DEC and cyanobacteria testing at 3 locations around the lake in partnership with the Lake Champlain Committee. The LFA maintains a supportive relationship with the White River Natural Resouces Conservation District and helps promote the Lake-Wise program. Information about the Lake-Wise program and Water Quality is available on the LFA website. In addition, the LFA purchased buoys labeled "Milfoil" then deployed them around the lake to deter boaters from piloting watercraft through milfoil infestations. At the annual meeting, a Milfoil education table was available to provide information about Milfoil and its management. The LFA sponsored a Milfoil hand-pulling training for interested landowners to demonstrate the proper approach to shoreline adjacent removal.
