The mission of the land of lincoln legal aid, inc. Is to pursue justice for low-income persons through free representation and education.

Programs

2 programs

The senior legal services program provides legal services to persons 60 years and older. The goals of this program are: (1) to promote maximum independence and dignity for senior citizens and (2) to improve access to necessary services. Land of lincoln completed work on 1,990 cases for senior citizens during 2024.

Expenses: $2.7M

The domestic violence program provides legal services to victims of domestic violence. The goals of this program are: (1) to promote the personal safety and welfare of clients and their families; and (2) to stabilize family relationships and promote economic well being. The largest sources of funding are the violence against women act (vawa) and the victims of crime act (voca). Land of lincoln completed work on 1,789 cases for victims during 2023.

To provide low-income people in 65 counties with representation on family, housing and consumer law cases. To serve thousands of low-income people in 65 counties in central and southern Illinois by providing legal advice, self-help materials, guidance on how to use the court system and referrals through a telephone hotline. To fund two medical legal partnerships with the VA Illiana Health Care System via Land of Lincoln's Champaign office, with the Marion VA via the Carbondale office. Additionally, a staff attorney will be located in the Merto-East area to coordinate with Scott Air Force Base. Land of Lincoln will also provide services to hundreds of people and will make and take referrals from the hotline across Land of Lincoln's service area.
