Leadership Memphis

Volunteer memphis (vm) was previously known as volunteer mid-south. It became an action initiative of leadership memphis in 2015 and strives to increase volunteerism throughout the memphis area. During fy2024 vm produced the 4-day mlk days of service featuring 25 service projects with 40 community partners and more than 1200 volunteers. Vm held and/or participated in multiple health fairs with over 350 attendees and 25 vendors providing resources on housing, healthcare, education and veteran empowerment. Vm also hosted the volunteer memphis awards to recognize over 300,000 people who volunteer in the memphis area every year. Nearly 250 individuals, nonprofits and businesses were nominated for awards in 8 categories and the awards virtual reception had more than 200 attendees pre and post event. Vm also organizes the make a difference week that coordinates financial literacy sessions with students in middle and high school across shelby county. Companies work with volunteer memphis to organize employee service projects and individuals; families and teams can visit the vm website to find volunteer opportunities posted by nonprofits in search of volunteers.
