Mission
We develop a new generation of ethical women leaders to drive positive change by providing exceptional academics, leadership training, alumni support, and community development experiences. We educate and train women in Honduras through a two year residential education program that culminates with an accredited tertiary certification in English, leadership, entrepreneurship, and sustainable community development. We support graduates' personal and professional goals in professional mentorship, University scholarships, community development grants, and business startup loans.
Programs
3 programs
New Construction, Facilities, Vehicles, Transportation, & Utilities: In order to maintain life on LMI's rural, 150+ acre campus, buildings for housing, cooking, eating, and living for staff and students are necessary. We refurbished a few buildings this year because of roof and pillar decay. This also covers the cost of all utilities including electricity, wifi, our massive water system, and sewage. Also, this includes all vehicles that bring people and resources back and forth to campus.
Food, Ag & Animals - Sustainability Programs: As part of LMI's strategic plan, the organization has developed robust sustainability systems for food on campus and for the resale of products to neighboring communities. This includes a coffee farm, passionfruit plantation, massive vegetable gardens, chickens, pigs, cows, and the labor both for growing food, caring for animals, preparing food, and maintaining these systems.
Remaining program expenses include Graduate Advancement Programs in the areas of professional mentorship, Community Development Grants, University Scholarships, and Micro-Finance Business Startup Loans.
