Mission
The lels benevolent fund provides support and financial aid for the families of lels members and the families of other minnesota public safety professionals, who are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty, regardless of their union membership. The benevolent fund consists of a board that will review the circumstances of the injury or death, and if approved, will act as the fiscal agent of the funds, monies and any donations. They will transfer them to the eligible recipient(s) according to law and the fiscal agent agreements.the board may also consider special needs that do not fit the definition of injury or death-in-the-line-of-duty with receipt of a written request addressed to the board. The procedure is outlined in the by-laws of the organization. The lels benevolent fund welcomes and encourages donations and contributions in the name of a fallen hero.
