Licking County Coalition For Housing

The transitional housing program provided temporary (ave. 6 months) housing and supportive services to 68 homeless men, women and children during the 2023-2024 fiscal year in scattered sites throughout the city of newark. In addition, the veterans administration-funded homeless veteran grant and per diem (gdp) program served 8 veteran households (10 people) in 5 units, in partnership with the columbus va.

Supportive services for veteran families (ssvf) is funded by the veterans administration (va). Ssvf provides supportive services and housing support to very low-income veterans (adults and families) who are homeless or at-risk for homelessness. During the 2021-2022 fiscal year, 113 persons (78 veteran households) received financial assistance and case management for homelessness prevention or rapid re-housing assistance in licking, knox and coshocton counties.

Returning home ohio (rho) - rho is a program sponsored by the ohio department of rehabilitation and correction and the corporation for supportive housing that is aimed at preventing homelessness and reducing recidivism for those who have been released from state of ohio prisions. The rho program provided case management and financial assistance to12 adults with severe and persistant mental illness and case management/referral services to an additional 7 individuals to promote housing stability during 2023-2024.

Housing opportunities for people with aids/hiv (hopwa) - the ushud-funded hopwa program provides short and long term rental assistance to households that have person residing in the home that has been diagnosed hiv or aids. This program works to ensure households have secure housing so they are able to focus on their health. Lcch, in partnership with columbus public health (cph), began operating the hopwa program in january 2020. From july 1, 2023 through june 30, 2024 lcch assisted 16 households with long-term assistance and 31 households with short-term assistance.

Community transitions program (ctp) - ctp is a program sponsored by the corporation for supportive housing that seeks to provide recovery supports, including housing assistance, to individuals exiting state of ohio prisons who have participated in substance use treatment or recovery services while incarcerated. Funded by the ohio department of mental health and addiction services in partnership with the corporation for supportive housing, ctp assisted 10 households with financial assistance, during 2023-2024 in 10 ohio counties.

Volunteer income tax assistance (vita) - vita is a program sponsored by the internal revenue service offering free income tax assistance to eligible low and moderate-income taxpayers. Irs-certified volunteers prepare tax returns and offer referrals to area resources and financial education opportunities. During 2023-2024, 20 irs-certified volunteers and 5 lcch staff prepared 1,417 tax returns, returning $1,939,698 in federal and state refunds to the local economy. The community volunteers provided 1,511 hours of volunteer time.

Rental activity - in conjunction with the licking county board of developmental disabilities ("the board"), the organization provides residential housing opportunities in 12 single-family homes for adults with developmental disabilities to reside independently while receiving supervised care and guidance. Forty adults are served through this partnership.

The homeless crisis reponse program (hcrp) is funded by the state of ohio and administered by lancaster-fairfield community action agency (lfcaa) on behalf of the 6 counties in ohio homeless planning region 9. Lcch is a subrecipient of hcrp funds that can provide financial assistance and case management for homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing assistance for homeless families and adults. During 2023-2024, lcch assisted 22 households (35 people) with rapid re-housing services and 28 households (64 people) with homelessness prevention services.
