Mission

To assist adults and children to acquire the english literacy skills and education necessary to improve their quality of life and enhance the entire community.

Programs

3 programs

Worksite literacy has been operating since the late 1990's. This program utilizes volunteers, who live at area golf and gated communities, to teach english to the employees of the communities. Employees improve their english skills and can get promotions, better jobs or just an increased ability to communicate with their supervisors and residents that they serve. Landscaping, golf maintenance, kitchen, dining and housekeeping staff participate in the programs.

Expenses: $131K

Adult literacy, since our inception in 1989, teaches english to adults, 18 years old and over. Students learn to speak, read and write english and also take other literacy classes including grammar, writing and conversation.

Expenses: $132K

We also teach us citizenship preparation and ged prep.
