Programs
3 programs
Healthcare access - expanded access to culturally and linguistically appropriate health information, services, and treatment options for little havana residents. In 2024, healthy little havana advanced community wellness through two key initiatives. Under the juntos sin barreras project with urban health partnerships, we provided bilingual hiv prevention workshops, distributed educational materials, and coordinated free testing events with local clinical partners. Concurrently, through a multi-year partnership with the university of miami's ceal project, we launched a community health worker-led intervention focused on food insecurity, research trust, and health disparities. Chws provided trusted outreach, conducted surveys, and connected residents to care and resources.
Housing - advanced housing stability and equity by advocating for safe, affordable, and mixed-income housing options in little havana. Efforts focused on amplifying resident voices in local planning processes, promoting tenant rights, and supporting initiatives that preserve existing housing stock and improve living conditions for vulnerable populations.
Education to employment - promoted economic mobility and career readiness by connecting youth and young adults in little havana to educational workshops, job training opportunities, and community-based internships. Activities focused on developing life skills, increasing access to bilingual workforce resources, and strengthening pathways to employment through partnerships with local employers, schools, and nonprofit organizations.
