Mission

Lockwood Animal Rescue Center (LARC) is a non-profit organization that provides a permanent lifetime sanctuary for rescued wolves, wolfdogs, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, skunks, parrots, pigs, horses, and dogs. LARC is a work therapy program that offers employment to disabled and/or formerly homeless combat veterans suffering from trauma. This program, called Warriors and Wolves, is designed to help veterans regain their confidence and learn valuable job skills in an eco-therapeutic environment as they care for the rescued animals. The unique relationships that develop between the wolves and the veterans have proven to be immensely therapeutic for both species. In addition to providing sanctuary to rescued animals and work therapy to veterans, LARC also has a program called Wolfguard, in which veterans go into the wilderness to protect wild wolves.
