The organization strives to preserve a landmark and interpret its 19th c. History through public programs that educate and engage our communities, while encouraging dialogue, critical thinking, and creativity.

A national historic landmark and educational center for youth and adults, the lockwood-mathews mansion museum is considered one of the most significant civil war era structures in the united states. Restoration and preservation of its structure and collections is part of the lmmm mission and provides an opportunity to illustrate late 19th century history, architecture, and the arts in a safe and engaging environment.
