Mission

Public charity: The Lost Shul Mural, Inc. was established to move, restore, and maintain the Lost Mural located in Burlington VT. The Lost Mural is one of the last remaining and largest examples of painted synagogue artwork, most of which were located in synagogues across central and eastern Europe, and most of which were destroyed during the Holocaust. The Lost Mural was originally painted in 1910, and needed extensive cleaning and restoration work to bring it back to its original vibrance. In 2021, the mural was cleaned, and in 2022, the mural has been restored.
