Lowcountry Youth Services

Girls on the rise is an in-school mentorship program designed to strengthen young girls by fostering a supportive social environment that counters risk-taking behaviors. Through positive peer interactions and caring relationships, we inspire girls to be powerful and courageous. Using an evidence-based curriculum from girls circle research, our program is led by experienced mental health and youth development facilitators. As a sister program to young men rise, we promote inclusivity and respect for diverse cultural and emotional backgrounds. Our core values are self-awareness, confidence, and respect, helping girls thrive and develop meaningful identities.in 2023, 86 young ladies were assisted through this program.

See schedule o young men rise is an in-school mentorship program that focuses on the strengths of young men. The program aims to create a social environment that competes with the risk-taking norms among young men and meets their critical needs for belonging, self-worth, competency, acceptance, purpose, and meaningful identities. The program uses an evidence-based curriculum created by the council for boys and young men research, and it leverages the experience that lowcountry youth services has gained in youth development since its establishment in 2010. Young men rise creates an inclusive environment that respects cultural, family, and spiritual beliefs. It also incorporates cultural practices in the program to provide a holistic approach to mentorship.in 2023, 146 men were assisted through this program.

Lowcountry youth services additionally serves the community with the following programs: queens' being supports girls aged 11 to 18 in a positive environment. We believe young women of color can become impactful leaders. Our small-group mentorship fosters personal purpose and identity through enriching experiences. We also engage in meaningful discussions about sexual reproductive health and dating violence, empowering informed decision-making. At queens being, we focus on community and personal growth, helping young women build self-confidence, explore educational and career paths, and form strong connections across generations and cultures. Our core areas include college and career readiness, positive identity development, and healthy living. This program served 18 young ladies in 2023. The young leaders institute is a summer camp for students in sixth to eighth grades, designed to equip them with essential skills for future academic and professional success. Our curriculum focuses on college and career readiness, social-emotional learning (sel), financial literacy, and stem. Through hands-on experiences and interactive learning, students gain valuable insights and develop lifelong skills. Dedicated mentors create a nurturing environment, encouraging young leaders to explore their passions and interests. With their support, every student stays engaged and motivated to achieve their goals.
