Co-management of bruce vento nature sanctuary and daylighting phalen creek are major public private partnership projects in this program area. Bruce vento nauture sanctuary is a 27-acre cultural landscape co-managed with the city of saint paul. Phalen creek is a 4-mile historic waterway that has been piped underground for 100 years, this project will restore the creek. Programs include group volunteering and annual spring and fall clean up events.
The development and construction of wakan tipi center is a major public private partnership project in this program area. Wakan tipi center is a 7,500 sq ft cultural and environmental interpretive center located at bruce vento nature sanctuary. It's mission is to serve as an intergenerational gathering place that honors wakan tipi and the maa paha as daota sacred sites. Our programs here connect people to this sacred landscape though immersive experiences in daota history, lifeways, language, and values.
