Rebuilding the boot hurricane resilience and recovery. An ongoing initiative is lowlander's educational outreach program called rebuilding the boot, a step-by-step guide for all louisianians to identify the best practices for mitigating, repairing or rebuilding homes to green, fortified gold standard thus reducing communities' risk to storms. Dr. Tim reinhold has designed the resources based on the insurance institute of business and home safety (ibhs) fortified codes, the nationally and internationally- recognized building standards.

Solar energy for the coast-sky power for the people. Lowlander's solar energy work targets the critical need for reliable energy by offering portable, replicable solar solutions adaptable to the region's unique needs. Coastal communities are often the first to lose power and the last to have it restored; power outages threaten health and livelihoods during extreme heat and storms. In 2024, lowlander earned the gno foundation pitchit prize which supported the build of 5 portable solar units and provided for two trainings for community members on how to install and maintain solar units. To date we have built 7 units and held 3 workshops.
