Mission
To operate exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes, and in furtherance of such purposes, to engage in the development and dissemination of knowledge, information, ideas, trends, philosophies and methods concerning the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, disorders, injuries, abnormalities and other conditions of the lumbar spine in children and adults; to sponsor and conduct medical research relating to the lumbar spine and to publish the results of such research for public use; and to sponsor and conduct educational and scientific seminars and programs for the presentation and discussion of medical and scientific papers relating to the lumbar spine.
Programs

To work towards taking a lead in directing where lumbar spinal surgery goes in the future through a venue for the free and open exchange of scientific information regarding the treatment of lumbar spinal conditions. Members are encouraged to seek out other individuals with appropriate interests to further our membership and ensure our society's future.
Hands on surgical techniques course - a three-day course for young orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons who are interested in developing surgical skills and techniques necessary for operating with confidence and improving patient care in degenerative lumbar spine surgery. The course is aimed at physicians who are in senior-level training and surgeons in their first year of practie.
Provide research grant for the understanding of the physiology, pathology and management of disorders of the lumbar spine.
