Mission

The luminary is a nonprofit art space in st. Louis that supports artists and the community through exhibitions, residencies, grants, and public programs. We provide time, space, and resources for creative work and create opportunities for people to connect through art.

Programs

3 programs

Regranting:Through the Andy Warhol Foundations Regional Regranting program, The Luminary provides $60,000 each year directly to artists in St. Louis. Individual projects can receive up to $8,000, with 610 artists supported annually. This program focuses on community-based and socially engaged projects, giving local artists the resources to take on bold ideas that might not be funded otherwise.

Expenses: $112K

Residency:Our residency program gives visiting artists, writers, and curators time and space to focus deeply on their work. Residents receive full support to research new ideas, create projects, and connect with St. Louiss cultural community. Many residents develop new writing, artworks, or programs while here, and the residency helps build connections between local audiences and national or international perspectives.

Expenses: $75K

Public Programs:We host a wide range of public events that connect artists and audiences. These include our EMERGE professional development program for artists, as well as talks, screenings, workshops, and performances. Public programs are designed to be welcoming and responsive, creating opportunities for people to learn, share ideas, and take part in the larger conversation around contemporary art.
