Programs
3 programs
Governance program--we continued to partner with george washington university on governance as it relates to research, education and social innovation in tibet as this affects our programs with the tibet governance project. This program continued research and a workshop in south tyrol for a broad audience dedicated to better understanding of conditions for tibetans and possible ways forward for tibet.
Social innovation program--machik first innovated the effort to specifically identify and support social innovators in tibet. We continued to create platforms for tibetan innovators globally to connect to global audiences for their stories and visions which in turn generate greater understanding of tibetan lives and socio-cultural realities today. In 2024, tibetan innovators spoke at the 18th annual machik weekend. The machik film screening program continued to engage audiences in many cities about tibetan language resilience despite challenges and shared key viewpoints through stories told through tibetan standpoints.
Health screenings program - in partnership with local health care workers, we offered free mammograms for 160 tibetans in rural refugee populations such as bylakuppe, hunsur and mundgod in karnataka, india.
