Mission

The trust was incorporated may 31, 2018 and received approval as a section 501(c)(3) public charity under section 170(b)(1)(a)(vi) on may 30, 2019. Its primary purpose is to support maine's lighthouse organizations, preservation and restoration groups, nonprofits, and other affiliated organizations and to save maine's iconic lighthouses and their heritage through restoration and the education of current and future generations.. Funding for these activities will be provided by the sale of a new specialty license plate which was approved by the 130th maine legislature in the spring of 2021 (ld266). 2024 is the third year that the trust received this funding from the state.....in 2024 the trust paid $117,135 in grants and payments to maine's lighthouse community.
