Truth telling: our second truthtellingproject, beyond the claims storiesfrom the land & the heart, engaged dozens of people fromwabanaki and maine communities in deep conversation regarding their recollection of the maine indian land claims era. We created a richonline archive from over 40 collected interviews from people in 6 communities with diverse experiences and perspectives, includingwabanaki elders, tribal chiefs, legislators, lawyers, commissioners as well as poets, culture keepers, and families impacted by the maineindian land claims for generations. We contracted with an archivist to organize the stories according to best practices. We engagedvolunteers from the wabanaki community to write and perform an original educational play based on information we gleaned from thisproject.
Community education: we seek to build broader and stronger alliances of people who understand the longterm impact of generationanal harm inflicted on indigenous people since first contact. We delivered dozens of educational programs across maine; collaborated with communities and organizations to host educational events; published monthly email news updates and engaged guest authors in providingcontent for a monthly online blog, voices of decolonization. We hosted a monthly radio talk show, dawnland signals. We maintain and update educational resources on our website. We evaluated, updated and strengthened our baseline educational program, interacting with wabanaki maine history.
