To strengthen teacher support and program quality, the organization invested in the digitization of monitoring and evaluation processes through the development of MakerDost, a WhatsApp-based chatbot. MakerDost provides 24/7 assistance to teachers, supports hands-on classroom implementation, gathers user feedback, and generates tailored teaching materials and resources. This digital tool enhances program scalability and enables continuous, data-driven improvement of instructional practices.
The organization implemented the IGNITE Program in partnership with the Tamil Nadu StartUP Mission and a broad mentor network to support youth entrepreneurship in rural Tamil Nadu. Through this program, MakerGhat incubated 10 fellows, providing a structured series of masterclasses and workshops that guided participants through ideation, business model development, prototyping, pitching, and early-stage fundraising. As a result, more than half of the cohorts innovations are currently undergoing the patenting process. The program culminated in a major showcase event at IIT-Madras, which engaged over 200 potential youth entrepreneurs and generated strong interest for subsequent cohorts. Total expenses for the IGNITE Program were approximately $10,000, covering program delivery, training, and event execution.
